Job Title: Ice Show Director
Job Description:
The Ice Show Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the DFSC Spring Ice Show. Working closely with DFSC coaches, parents, and skaters, the director creates an unforgettable experience that showcases the talents of club members. They oversee all aspects of the production, ensuring creative interpretation of the theme within budgetary and physical constraints. The director is involved in all stages, from design to final performances.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with Ice Show production or similar productions
- In-depth knowledge of theatrical/ice programs, including stage management, set design, props, costumes, construction, and painting
- Familiarity with Ice Show production methods
- Ability to motivate and earn the respect of youth and adult skaters
- An unquenchable desire to learn and evolve
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate the DFSC Spring Ice Show, overseeing the entire production process
- Collaborate with the Club Director and Learn to Skate Director to schedule practice times and ice availability
- Guide DFSC coaches to ensure skaters are prepared for their roles
- Recruit skaters and promote their involvement in the Ice Show
- Manage set design, props, costumes, and their construction and painting
- Serve as a stage manager during performances, ensuring smooth transitions and timely execution
- Coordinate sound, lighting, video recording, picture day, and dress rehearsal day
- Maintain open communication with parents, coaches, and the DFSC board regarding schedules and facility usage
- Collaborate with the Ice Show Committee to allocate budget from the Sponsorship Committee, recruit volunteers, develop advertising strategies, and attract a broader audience to attend the show
- Perform other assigned duties
The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about figure skating and experienced in Ice Show production. They possess strong organizational and leadership skills, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate must become active in the day-to-day activities of the DFSC. The Ice Show Director must be creative, and resourceful, plus, maintain a positive and supportive environment for skaters and parents alike.
